Antwerp, Drink, Eat

Right around the time we moved into our new home, BLT opened up across from our place. We had a feeling we might like this new hotspot, with its perfectly styled interior, swanky logo and tasty looking menu and as it turns out, we were absolutely right!

Not only is each and every dish we’ve tried so far fingerlickin’ good, BLT seems to be run by the sweetest people in town, and we’re really quite picky when it comes to good service. Read more ›

Modern Shapes

Modern Shapes is a small but intriguing shop in the Kloosterstraat, founded by Michael Franken and specializing in incredibly beautiful ceramic objects (pottery, vases, art pieces, …) by European artists, both vintage and contemporary. One of the designers Michael focuses on, is the Italian born but Belgium based artist Antonio Lampecco, a passionate and humble ceramist who’s still active at 81 years old. Other artists represented are Piet Knepper (60′s), Karl Scheid (70′s), Beate Kuhn (60′s), Wendelin Stahl (60′s), Bruno and Ingeborg Asshoff (70′s) and others. Read more ›

Antwerp, Shop

Easily one of our favorite stops in the Kloosterstraat -a street in the center of Antwerp housing many antiques and design stores- is VIAR. The store, run by shop owner Verlaine, is a classic in the Kloosterstraat, having been there since 15 years. The huge and beautiful, loft-like space is filled with an eclectic mix of vintage design furniture (roughly ranging from the 40′s till the 80′s). Apart from the unique furniture pieces, they also sell a smaller selection of vintage clothing, often including real haute-couture treasures. Read more ›

The Recollection

In the beginning of September 2013, The Recollection came to town. An amazing new concept store in my favorite street in Antwerp: De Kloosterstraat.

The Recollection houses clothing and accessories, interior objects, art, books, beauty products and even flowers. It’s a unique space where you can spend your time browsing the impressive items The Recollection has to offer. From Australian beauty brand Aesop to the designs of Maison Martin Margiela, the shop slash gallery is one big paradise for people who love fashion and design. One thing is for sure: this shop is a must when you’re visiting Antwerp. Check out the website for details on their amazing brands including Piet Hein Eek and Haustier. Read more ›

Garde-robe Nationale

This is a very special shop to us, because it was Dieter’s first big project in his own name. Garderobe National is an amazing boutique in the Nationalestraat in Antwerp, carrying a lot of Belgian brands.

The shop consists of two radically different parts. The entrance of the store is bright white, while the area around and leading up to the fitting rooms is all dark wood. The two parts are sliced diagonally from ceiling to floor, creating a dramatic yet playful atmosphere. Read more ›
