Modern Shapes is a small but intriguing shop in the Kloosterstraat, founded by Michael Franken and specializing in incredibly beautiful ceramic objects (pottery, vases, art pieces, …) by European artists, both vintage and contemporary. One of the designers Michael focuses on, is the Italian born but Belgium based artist Antonio Lampecco, a passionate and humble ceramist who’s still active at 81 years old. Other artists represented are Piet Knepper (60′s), Karl Scheid (70′s), Beate Kuhn (60′s), Wendelin Stahl (60′s), Bruno and Ingeborg Asshoff (70′s) and others.

All pieces are unique and handmade (often signed), and are beautifully presented in a minimal interior, giving the objects a museum-like setting. Wonderful products, with varying sizes (and prices!). Follow Modern Shapes on Facebook to see new special items when they arrive in the shop.
